I was born in El Salvador and left the country at a young age, living in the United States and later in Canada, where I spent most of my adult life working, building businesses, and traveling whenever I could.
Over the years I visited many places — Europe, Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia — and I always found myself enjoying the trips more when I got to know locals and saw the places tourists usually miss.
Even while living abroad, I kept coming back to El Salvador every few months. Little by little I got to know the country in a different way — driving through small towns, eating at local markets, finding restaurants with no signs, and taking the scenic roads that don't appear on most maps.
When friends started visiting me, I realized I was never taking them on normal tours. I took them to the places Salvadorans actually go — the beaches locals love, the markets full of life, the small dining rooms, and the hidden routes you only find when someone shows you.
That's how Off the Beaten Path started.
Today I live in El Salvador again, and when people travel with me, the idea is simple: not to follow a tourist itinerary, but to experience the country the way locals do — relaxed, curious, and open to whatever the road brings.
Every tour is small, personal, and designed so you leave with something you can't buy — a real connection with this country.
